Alignment To Nursing Licensure Requirements
The University of Virginia’s College at Wise offers an online RN-BSN program
The RN to BSN Program is a program for registered nurses who have either a diploma or an associate degree in nursing.
The RN to BSN Program has been specifically designed for the working registered nurse student. The courses in the RN-BSN major are all online. The optional minor in Leadership Studies will provide the registered nurse with the skills and knowledge necessary for coordinating and managing patient care in complex health situations in health care facilities and in the community. The curriculum is also intended to prepare the registered nurse for graduate studies for advanced practice nursing.
In addition to the online program, UVA Wise offers a traditional pre-licensure program. The Pre-Licensure Program is for students who wish to earn a BSN and take the registered nurse licensure examination, the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Once admitted to the nursing major, students in the Traditional Program must enroll full-time.
Licensure is governed by a complex set of regulations that vary from state to state. At this time, the determination of eligibility for licensing in any state other than Virginia is not yet determined. Students who wish to pursue licensure in states other than Virginia should contact the respective state licensing board.
