CS STARS Summit

The CS STARS Summit is a day of professional learning designed to engage teachers in computer science topics and hands-on learning.

  • Date: April 30, 2022
  • Time: 8:30 AM-3:30 PM (Breakfast and Registration begin at 8 AM)
  • Place: SWVA Higher Education Center, Abingdon, VA
  • Cost: Online Registration is $45 prepaid by April 25th OR $60 Onsite

STREAMWORKS Student Panel

The heart of a great computer science program is the impact it has on our students.  Hear from three of STREAMWORKS' finest as they tell their stories about how their CS learning path, mentoring their fellow teammates, leading student and teacher workshops, and their future plans!  

Quintin Folkner

Quintin is currently a sophomore at East Tennessee State University, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain Operations and Analytics. He is currently the Co-Founder of the ETSU MATE Underwater Robotics Program. He has been involved in MATE for five years. He is currently the Lead Senior Intern for STREAMWORKS, where he has been an intern for the past four years. Quintin is also a recipient of the 2019 Appalachian Highlands Twenty Under 20 Award. After college, Quintin plans to start his career in supply chain and logistics.

Gracie Crabtree

Gracie is currently a junior at Milligan University, where she is completing a double major in computer science and information systems, with a minor in mathematics. At Milligan, Gracie plays for the women’s basketball team and is the lead software developer for the school’s MATE Underwater Robotics team. Gracie is currently a computer science intern for STREAMWORKS, where she has interned for 2 years. Gracie is a recipient of the 2020 Appalachian Highlands Twenty Under 20 Award. After graduation at Milligan, Gracie plans to attain a master’s degree in computer science.

Gavin Bentley

Gavin is currently a sophomore at East Tennessee State University, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in international affairs. He is a recipient of ETSU’s Roan Scholars Class of 2024. He is currently the Co-Founder of ETSU MATE Underwater Robotics Program. He has been involved in MATE for the past five years. Gavin is currently the Programs Coordinator for STREAMWORKS, where he has been an intern for the past four years. Gavin is also a recipient of the 2019 Appalachian Highlands Twenty Under 20 Award. After college, Gavin plans to start a career in diplomacy.
